SWARD implemented the SAKHI Centre, located in Sangareddy, in collaboration with the state government and collectively set up a number of assistance agencies to protect women and girls from various forms of violence (sexual, psychological, physical, economic, political, and emotional). In Telangana, with the joint participation of the Department of Women and Child Development and SWARD NGO, Sakhi OSC is operational in Sangareddy as of November, 2017. SWARD NGO, which has been working for the rights of women and girls for the past 30 years with enriched experience in serving women and girl survivors of gender-based violence, was recognized by the department, and SWARD was given the opportunity to support and implement the Sakhi OSC. The Sakhi Centre strives to provide all necessary assistance to women and girls in the current society to protect them from various forms of harassment and violence. The Sakhi Centre specializes in providing all the assistance they need under one roof to protect them from domestic violence, sexual harassment in the workplace, child trafficking, sexual harassment in educational institutions, rape, acid attacks, etc. SWARD is also enacting as a support and implementation agency of Sakhi OSC, Medak entered its fourth year in the month of September- 2023 and carried out for another three months successfully in providing integrated services to women and girl survivors of gender-based violence. The main purpose of the Sakhi Centre is to provide emergency shelter, medical services, registration of cases on their behalf, compensation to the aggrieved women who have been forced out of their homes with sudden bandages, and protection from the violence they face. A staff of 16 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at Sakhi Centre to provide all of these services. Once the affected woman comes to the Sakhi Center, the Sakhi Center will be there for her at all times. The number of women, who make up half of the population, is steadily declining, especially the number of girls. Women in the family and society are vulnerable, physically, mentally, sexually and financially abused, regardless of their age. Sakhi integrated services and 181 women helpline numbers for such people are available 24 hours a day. Sakhi urges the survivors to contact the available support structures and not to tolerate the violence in silence. Sakhi will address their concerns, if they have been subjected to any form of violence in their lives.
