SNEHITHA SUPPORT CENTRE FOR WOMEN During 2022, SWARD, in collaboration with the Siddipet Police Commissionerate and with the support of the Azim Premji Foundation, has implemented the project “Promotion of Support Structures for Women/Girl Survivors of Gender Based Violence in Siddipet District, Telangana.”. As part of this project, SWARD established the counseling centre, Snehitha Support Centre for Women, in the premises of Women Police Station, Siddipet, in October 2022. This center was formally inaugurated by Sri T. Harish Rao, Minister of Finance, Health and Family Welfare, Telangana, on January 5, 2023. Objectives: ■ To provide a multi-pronged support to the survivors of gender-based violence and build support systems ■ Develop models to create livelihood support to women survivors of gender-based violence ■ To promote gender equality and develop a cadre of sensitized youth and adolescents ■ To sensitize, strengthen the capacities of the personnel working in the existing government system/ Police structures to support survivors of gender-based violence This Support Centre for Women provides the following services to the needy: • Need Assessment and Goal Set • Professional Counselling • Psychosocial Counselling • Psychological Treatment • Legal Aid Support • Home Visits • Filing of Domestic Violence Cases in the court and follow up • 498 A Cases - Legal Aid Support • Skill Development Programme • Livelihood Support • Financial Support to the needy to establish the trade units • Awareness Programmes in the communities, schools and colleges of Siddipet District • Formation of Snehitha Groups at the community level to address the gender-based violence.
