With the support of Medtronic and the government, SWARD organised MHM trainings in 20 ZPHS of Sangareddy District in 55 days. 3,022 adolescent girls got trained, and indirectly reached out to a total 8580 Adolescent girls under this programme. Menstrual Hygiene Management programme discusses with the adolescent girls - the concept of menstruation, puberty, changes during menstruation and use of menstrual absorbents and hygiene practices to be adopted during menstruation, sexual reproductive health [SRH] rights. SWARD cultivated open discussions on MHM and strengthen the community structures around these issues. SWARD created awareness among the adolescent girls on issues such as the physical development, mental Development, life skills education, leadership qualities and Career Guidance. Safe and effective Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is a trigger for better and stronger development for adolescent girls and women. Issues related to Menstrual Hygiene Management.
Organized MHM Awareness program and covered below mentioned points. a. Stigma, the culture of silence, and lack of information.
b. Lack of access to sanitary napkins and menstrual absorbents.
c. Absence of support from family and community.
d. Lack of access to water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.
e. Lack of separate and usable toilets for girls and women.
f. Lack of disposal facilities for sanitary pads and cloths.
